Alright I slacked off yesterday and didn’t squeeze in time to post.
It wasn’t really slacking though because yesterday we left warm Mostar and drove two and a half hours North to the capitol city of Sarajevo to pick up our friend and teammate from the airport.
If you’re new to the Cunningham Two, you might not know that we lived almost four years in Sarajevo before moving to Mostar this year at the end of February.
Part of my heart will always feel at home in the streets of Sarajevo. It was our Bosnian “birthplace” so to speak, and our students here even tease us because we are “Sarajevans” through and through. We enjoyed having lunch with friends and taking in the nice cooler weather.
Anyways, enough about that, and on to today’s prompt:
Monday, September 7: Tell us about your blog name. Where did it come from?
The Cunningham Two has been around for almost 6 years now. We knew before we were even married that we would apply to move to Sarajevo through the organization we work with. Blogging was just becoming popular and I knew it would be a good way for me to keep up with family while we would be so far away.
So before we said I do, I took the plunge into the blogging world. With a name change coming a few months from then, I didn’t want to have to change the name of the blog again, so right from the bat we were the Cunningham Two, and I told stories of our life as we learned to do life together.
Moving overseas in our eigth month of marriage was terrifying and exciting at the same time. For us it was the best thing we could have done. We depended on each other and the Lord alone, and made our own family structure. Falling back on old family routines wasn’t an option as we learned a new world while we learned each other. We really solidified ourselves as the Cunningham Two, our own family unit.
The blog has changed looks and even changed hosting sites recently, but we’ve always been, and so far still are the Cunningham Two (plus Niko, haha). Maybe one day that will change to the Cunningham Three..or Four or Five, who knows? But for now it’s who we are.
